Chair Moldings and Two Tone Paint

Chair Molding and Two Tone Paint  When remodeling your home, there are a few ways to step up the appearance of a room or rooms. When we are planning out the final stages of our Complete Home Remodeling projects, we have one opportunity to change a plain looking room into something more of a showpiece. This can be accomplished with chair molding and two tone paint schemes.

Making a room stand out is not that difficult. With all of my crews in line to finish off a home in its later stages, I usually cant resist adding additional moulding schemes to one or more rooms. One of the ways I do this is by adding chair moldings. This technique is relatively inexpensive for a room or two. In fact it looks amazing in the dining and hall areas. The installation of the chair molding most times is installed at about 36” off the floor running parallel to the base floor trim. This dividing point offers you a few opportunities to get creative.

Opportunities With Chair Rails

With the chair rail acting as a divider, you can now divide the room into 2 different colors giving it more of a pop to the room. I like to stick with neutral colors so make sure your choice of paint falls within basic coloring. You want neutral paint choices as it makes your room look larger and more spacious.

Many times I also use the area below the chair rail to install raised panel boxes. When we paint this area, my paint crews will spray finish to create a baked on look. Its appearance is spectacular. Now, the wall area above the chair rail is painted a color choice that complements the surrounding rooms. Using a color chosen from a color swatch helps you select colors that are similar.

As another tip, you can paint the room 2 different colors that are very similar. This will help make the room appear more bright and open.

Chair Rail Moldings and Staircases / Hallways

The aesthetic appeal of chair moldings offers another advantage to homeowners in the hallways and staircase areas. The hallway and staircases are often overlooked. Not is the case with Pangione Developers. We like to carry our molding detail in these areas as well. It offers a great balance as the flow of beautiful woodwork continues through the your hallways. As you enter your home, the appearance of a chair rail/ boxes and two tone paint flow up to the second level.

David Pangione of Pangione Developers states “ I want to create a finished home for my customers the same way I would want my home to be finished. Moldings are a huge part of our finishing process.”
